GeoDirectory doesn’t add its own user roles. It works with normal WordPress accounts, and the person who submits a listing becomes its owner (the post author). Customers who leave reviews and business owners who manage listings can have the same kind of account: a user is an owner for the listings they added.
What listing owners can do
- Edit or delete their own listings from the front end, using the actions shown by GD > Author Actions. See How can my users edit or delete their listings?.
- Reach their listings and favorites from the GD > Dashboard block, which shows a dashboard to logged in users.
- Reply to reviews on their listings. Replies from the owner get a “Listing Owner” badge, and you can change that label in each post type’s settings.
An admin can give a listing to another user, see How to change the owner of a listing?. With the Claim Listings add-on, business owners can claim listings you added and become their owner.
Control who can register, post and review
- Settings > General > Membership, “Anyone can register”, decides whether people can sign up.
- Settings > Discussion decides whether people must be logged in to comment and leave reviews.
- GeoDirectory > Settings > General has “New listing default status” (choose Pending Review to approve each new listing), “Allow posting without logging in?” and “Restrict wp-admin”, which keeps the roles you choose (subscribers by default) out of wp-admin.
Extra roles and profiles
If you need roles with different permissions, such as a separate shop owner role, a role editor plugin can create them. For front end registration, login and profile pages, our UsersWP plugin works with GeoDirectory and can show each user’s listings on their profile.
