The featured image on a GeoDirectory listing is the first image in its gallery. GeoDirectory shows it at one of the WordPress image sizes, inside a frame with a fixed aspect ratio. So if your image looks cropped, blurry or the wrong size, change the block settings rather than uploading different files.
Choose the image size and crop
- Find your Details page template (or the Archive item page for listing cards) under GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages and open it in the editor.
- Select the GD > Post Images block. On the details page this is usually the slider at the top.
- In the Design settings (you may need to show the advanced settings), set Image size. Pick large or full for a big hero image. Smaller sizes load faster but look soft when they’re stretched.
- Set Aspect ratio. The default is 16by9. Pick 21by9, 4by3, 1by1, or No ratio (natural) to show the whole image at its own shape.
- Set Image cover type. The default covers both width and height, which crops the edges. No cover (contain) shows the full image, with space around it if needed.
- Update the page and check a listing.
Change the WordPress image sizes
The pixel sizes of medium, large and the other sizes are set at Settings > Media and by your theme. If you change them, existing GeoDirectory images keep their old copies until you rebuild them. WordPress’s own regenerate tools don’t cover GeoDirectory images, so use GeoDirectory > Status > Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails. You can also regenerate a single listing’s images from the Regenerate Thumbnails link in the listings list in wp-admin.
Make the image smaller on the page
GD > Post Images is responsive and fills the width it is given. To make it narrower, put it in a narrower column, or limit its width with CSS as shown in How to resize GD Post Images.
For a sharp full-width image, upload photos at least as wide as the space they fill, for example 1400 pixels or more for a full-width header.
