A GeoDirectory custom field only shows where you tell it to. If fields such as phone, website or address are missing from your listings, check the field itself first, then the place it should appear.

Check the field

  • Is active: open the field in Places > Settings > Custom Fields. If “Is active” is off, the field isn’t displayed anywhere.
  • A value: empty fields are not shown. Edit the listing and check the field is filled in.
  • Packages: with Pricing Manager, a package can hide fields through Exclude Fields. Check the package the listing is on.

Check where the field is output

Fields appear in three ways.

  • “Show in extra output location” in the field settings: Details page sidebar, Listings page and Map bubble. Ticking a location only sets which fields are included. The GD > Output Location block or widget does the output, so it must be on the page.
  • Tabs: the Profile tab and any other tabs in Places > Settings > Tabs list the fields shown by GD > Single Tabs on the details page.
  • GD > Post Meta: shows one field wherever you place it, for example [gd_post_meta key="phone"].

Show fields in the details page sidebar

  1. Tick “Details page sidebar” under “Show in extra output location” for each field and save.
  2. Add GD > Output Location to the sidebar that shows on listing pages (Appearance > Widgets) or to the Details Page template, with the location set to Details page sidebar.

The shortcode version is:

[gd_output_location location="detail"]

For fields on listing cards in archives, tick “Listings page” and make sure the Archive item template (GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages) has a GD > Output Location block set to that location.

If you use a custom theme and nothing appears even with these blocks in place, switch to a default theme on a staging site to see whether the theme’s templates are bypassing GeoDirectory’s. More detail: GD > Output Location and GD > Post Meta.
