Every GeoDirectory category page is drawn from one template page, the Archive page. To add or remove anything on your category pages (a categories list, the search bar, the map) you edit that page, not each category.

Remove a block from category pages

1. Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages and find Archive page under Template Page Settings.
2. Open that page in the editor. By default it holds GD > Notifications, GD > Category Description, GD > Search, GD > Loop Actions, GD > Loop and GD > Loop Paging.
3. Delete the block or shortcode you do not want, for example a GD > Categories block, and update the page.

If the block is still there, it is coming from a widget area in your theme, such as a sidebar. Check Appearance > Widgets (or your theme’s sidebar settings) and use the widget’s show and hide options to stop it showing on archive pages. Widget Show / Hide Options explains them.

Do not link to the Archive page directly. It is a template, and visitors should only reach it through a category or post type URL.

Category page title shows “Archives”

GeoDirectory sets the title of category pages from GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta, under Archive pages. The default Category Title is All %%category%% %%in_location_single%%, so a category called Restaurants shows “All Restaurants”. If you see “Archives” or something else instead, work through these:

1. Check the Category Title field is not set to plain text without %%category%%.
2. Switch to a default WordPress theme for a moment. If the title is right there, your theme prints its own archive heading without the standard WordPress title functions.
3. In that case, hide the theme’s heading on GD pages and add the GD > Page Title block to the top of the Archive page. It outputs the title from your Titles & Meta settings.
4. If you use an SEO plugin, check its settings for archive titles too.

The Titles & Meta settings overview lists all the variables you can use.
