GeoDirectory uses one Add Listing page for all your post types. The form changes with the post type in the URL, so each post type has its own address. With pretty permalinks, the Places form is at /add-listing/places/, and other post types use their own slug in place of places.
If you haven’t set up the page yet, start with Create an Add Listing page.
Allow a post type on the frontend
- Go to the post type’s settings, for example Places > Settings > General.
- Click Show Advanced.
- Make sure Disable frontend add is unticked.
- Save, then do the same for each post type you want users to add.
Choose which fields appear on the form
The form is built from the post type’s custom fields at Places > Settings > Custom Fields. A field appears on the Add Listing form when Is active is on and Admin edit only is off. Admin edit only fields can only be seen and filled in by site admins.
If you use the Pricing Manager, each package can also exclude fields, so a free package can show fewer fields than a paid one. See How to add a new pricing package.
Link to each form
Visitors need a link to the form for each post type. You can add GeoDirectory add listing links to a menu at Appearance > Menus (see Menu Items), or place the GD > Dashboard widget, which shows add listing links to logged-in users.
The form link gives a 404 error
A post type slug that matches a page slug causes a clash. For example, a post type with the slug location conflicts with the GeoDirectory location page. Change one of the two slugs, then save your permalinks. See Why do I get a 404 Page Not Found error?.
