GeoDirectory builds archive page titles from GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta. Use the %%category%% variable there and each category page shows its own category name.
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta.
- Under Archive pages, edit Category Title. The default is
All %%category%% %%in_location_single%%, for example “All Restaurants”. Use just%%category%%if you only want the name. - Set Category Meta Title too if you want the browser tab and search results to match.
- For search results, edit the Search page section. Its default title is
Search results for: %%search_term%% %%search_near%%. - Save the changes.
Click a variable in the settings to copy it. %%in_category%% gives “in Restaurants” instead of just the name.
The title shows something else
If your settings are right but the page shows “Archives”, the template page title or the name of the first listing, your theme is printing its own title without the standard WordPress functions GeoDirectory hooks into. To fix it:
- Confirm it is the theme by switching to a default WordPress theme for a moment.
- Hide the theme’s title on GeoDirectory pages, if the theme has an option for it.
- Edit the page set as Archive page at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages and add the GD > Page Title block at the top. It prints the title from your Titles & Meta settings.
If you use Yoast SEO or Rank Math, GeoDirectory’s variables also work in their title templates. See How to Use GeoDirectory Snippet Variables in Yoast?.
