With the Location Manager add-on you can import cities, regions and countries from a CSV file using its Import Locations tool. Each row needs the city, region, country, latitude and longitude.
You do not have to import locations for GeoDirectory to work. When a listing is added or imported with an address in a new city, Location Manager creates that location automatically. Importing them in advance is useful when you want location pages ready before listings exist, or want to add descriptions and SEO text to them.
CSV columns
- Required:
city,region,country,latitude,longitude. - Optional:
location_idandcity_slug. A blank city_slug is generated from the city name. - Optional SEO columns:
city_meta_title,city_meta_desc,city_desc, and the same three for region and country.
Latitude and longitude must be numbers. The importer offers a sample CSV you can download and fill in. Rows that match an existing location (by location_id or city_slug) are skipped unless you turn on “Update existing locations”.
Tips
- Export your current locations first and use that file as a template. It already has the right column names.
- Use the country name as GeoDirectory stores it, the same as in your existing listings.
- Location data files made for GeoTheme or other directory scripts will not import as they are. Rename their columns to match the list above.
- Large files are slower. Splitting a big list into several files of a few thousand rows makes problems easier to spot.
