Answers to common GeoDirectory questions about add listing form. Click a question to open the answer.
You assign categories in the category box when you add or edit a listing, in the admin or on the frontend add listing form. If you cannot see it or it is empty, check:
- You have created categories for that post type, for example in Places > Categories. See Create a category.
- The Category field is still in Places > Settings > Custom Fields. It is a system field that every post type needs.
- If the site was copied or migrated, the GeoDirectory database tables may not have come across complete. Moving the files and database manually and using a search and replace tool that handles serialized data is safer than some cloning plugins.
If the box is still missing on a fresh copy of the settings, try GeoDirectory > Status > Tools > Clear version numbers, which makes the install and upgrade routines run again.
A logged in listing owner sees an Edit link on their own listing. GeoDirectory shows it with the GD > Author Actions block, which is on the default listing page template. The link opens the add listing form with their details filled in.
To give users a list of their listings, add the GD > Dashboard block to a menu, sidebar or account page. Its My Listings link goes to the user’s listings. If you use UsersWP, the link goes to the Listings tab of their profile. That tab needs the post types selected in UsersWP > Settings > Addons > GeoDirectory and the Listings tab added in UsersWP > Form Builder > Profile Tabs.
Yes. GeoDirectory keeps <iframe> code in these fields:
- HTML fields.
- Textarea fields that have Advanced editor or Embed Media URLs turned on in the field settings (both are advanced settings).
- The description and the default video field.
In a plain textarea field the HTML is stripped when the listing is saved, so the iframe never reaches the page. Change the field type or turn on one of the options above, then save the listing again. Script tags are removed in every field; see How to allow scripts in GD Custom Field Values.
Also check the field is set to show where you expect it, for example in the details tab or a GD > Post Meta block.
The add listing page is a normal WordPress page with the GD > Add Listing block on it, so you can add any content above or below the form. Find the page at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages, edit it, and add a paragraph, image or any other block.
With the Pricing Manager add-on you can show your packages with prices and features by adding the GD > Pricing block to the page. Each package also has its own Title and Description, which you edit at Places > Settings > Packages.
Create an add listing page explains how to set up extra add listing pages, for example one per post type.
