Sitemaps with names like gd_location_full-sitemap.xml or gd_placecategory_location_country-sitemap.xml come from the GeoDirectory Location Manager add-on, not from Yoast. They list your location pages, and your category pages combined with each location. Turn them on or off in GeoDirectory’s settings, not in Yoast.
Choose which location sitemaps to include
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > Locations and find the sitemap settings. They only appear while Yoast SEO is active.
- Turn on the options for the sitemaps you want to hide. There are separate options for location pages, post type pages with a location, category pages with a location, and tag pages with a location. There’s also an option to add neighbourhood pages.
- Save the settings, then reload your Yoast sitemap index to check the result.
If the old sitemap still shows, clear any page cache. Yoast also caches its sitemaps, and re-saving its settings refreshes them.
Other GeoDirectory sitemaps
The normal listing and category sitemaps, such as gd_place-sitemap.xml and gd_placecategory-sitemap.xml, come from Yoast itself. To leave them out, use Yoast’s settings for that post type or taxonomy and set it not to show in search results.
To stop search engines indexing some GeoDirectory pages at all, see No index directives on all or some GD pages.
