Yes. Many sites run job listings on GeoDirectory by adding a Jobs post type with its own fields. It suits a local job board where employers post vacancies and visitors search by keyword, category and location. A dedicated job board plugin may suit you better if you need features such as applicant tracking or job feeds from other sites, which GeoDirectory does not have.
How to set it up
- Install the Custom Post Types add-on and create a Jobs post type. See How to Add a New Custom Post Type?.
- Add categories for job sectors at Jobs > Categories.
- Add the fields a vacancy needs at Jobs > Settings > Custom Fields, for example a select field for job type (full time, part time, contract), a text or number field for salary, an email or URL field for applying, and a date field for the closing date. A File Upload field lets employers attach a job description PDF. See How to Add a Custom Field to Custom Post Type.
- Add the fields to search with the Advanced Search add-on so visitors can filter by job type or salary band.
Employers and resumes
If you also list employers, create a Companies post type and link the two, so each company page shows its open jobs. How to Link Two Custom Post Types? covers this. A separate Resumes post type with a File Upload field works the same way if job seekers should post their CV.
Charging for job posts
With the Pricing Manager add-on you can charge employers per post and set packages that expire after a number of days, which suits vacancies with a closing date. See the Pricing Manager Setup Guide.
