GeoDirectory works with any WordPress theme. The directory is built from blocks and shortcodes on ordinary WordPress pages, so it takes on your theme’s header, footer and styles. If you find a bug with a particular theme, tell us and we will look at fixing it.
Our own directory themes
We make free themes designed for GeoDirectory:
- Directory theme, for business, event and city directories.
- Real Estate theme, for property listings.
- Job Board theme, for job listings.
They are built on BlockStrap, our block theme framework, which combines the WordPress Site Editor with Bootstrap 5. See Release of the new FSE Directory theme and the full list on our themes page.
Other themes and page builders
We have tutorials for building a directory with Astra, Kadence, OceanWP, Ollie and GeneratePress, and with the Divi and Elementor builders. For builders, start with Using a builder with GeoDirectory.
Switching themes on an existing directory
Your listings, categories, custom fields and GeoDirectory settings are stored separately from the theme, so they stay when you switch. What you may need to set up again is anything that belonged to the old theme: menu locations, widget areas, theme options and any custom CSS written for it. Try the new theme on a staging copy of the site first.
