GeoDirectory can create an account for a visitor when they submit a listing, so they don’t have to register first. When this is on, logged out visitors see a “Your Details” section with Name and Email at the top of the add listing form.
Turn it on
- In WordPress, go to Settings > General and tick “Anyone can register” next to Membership. GeoDirectory only shows the fields when registration is open.
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General and click Show Advanced.
- Under Listing Settings, tick “Allow posting without logging in?” and save.
When the listing is submitted, GeoDirectory creates a new user with that name and email and makes them the listing owner. WordPress then sends its usual new account email so they can set a password and come back to edit or pay for the listing. If the email already belongs to an account, the listing is added to that account instead.
On WP Engine hosting this setting needs an extra step, see allow posting without logging in on WP Engine.
Show login and register links on the form instead
If you would rather have people register before they post, keep the setting off. The GD > Add Listing block has a “Show the login and register links if required” option (show_login="1") that shows Login and Register buttons to logged out visitors.
With UsersWP, you can send new users straight back to the form after they sign up. Go to UsersWP > User Types, edit the user type, set “Registration Action” to Auto Approve + Auto Login and set the “Redirect Page” to your add listing page.
