With the GD-WP All Import extension, categories and images need to be mapped in the GeoDirectory Addon section of step 3 of your import. WP All Import’s own Taxonomies and Images sections fill in WordPress data, but GeoDirectory keeps its own copy of a listing’s categories and images, and that copy is filled from the GeoDirectory Addon section. If you only use WP All Import’s sections, categories can appear in the admin list but not on the listing, and images or the logo don’t show.
Categories
- In the GeoDirectory Addon section, map your category column to Categories. Use category names or IDs, separated by commas. Names that don’t exist yet are created.
- Map the main category to Default Category.
- Also map the same column in WP All Import’s Taxonomies, Categories, Tags section, for your post type’s category taxonomy (for example
gd_placecategory). Mapping both keeps the WordPress category data and GeoDirectory’s own data the same.
Images
Map your image URLs to Images (post_images) in the GeoDirectory Addon section. Separate several images with two colons, ::. The first image becomes the featured image. Each URL must end in a file name with an image extension such as .jpg or .png. The add-on downloads each image into your media library.
Logo and other file fields
The Company Logo field, and any other file upload field in your post type, appears in the GeoDirectory Addon section under its own name. Map the full image URL there. A media library ID on its own won’t work, even if the image is already in your library, so use its URL.
Updating listings you imported before
When you run an import again to update existing listings, WP All Import only changes the data you tick under its update options. Make sure images, taxonomies and the custom fields you need are ticked, or the new values are skipped.
For installing the add-on and running a first import, see the WP All Import Setup Guide. The image URL format is the same as for the core CSV importer: How to format the CSV file for importing listing images.
