To charge users for adding a listing, you need the GeoDirectory Pricing Manager add-on and a cart plugin to take the payment. Pricing Manager adds price packages to the add listing form. The cart, either GetPaid or WooCommerce, handles the invoice, the checkout and the payment gateways.
What you need
- GeoDirectory (free).
- The Pricing Manager add-on.
- GetPaid (free) or WooCommerce. GetPaid comes with PayPal, bank transfer and a few other gateways. More gateways are available as GetPaid extensions.
You don’t need Location Manager to accept listings from anywhere. GeoDirectory allows listings outside the default location unless you untick “Remove default city limit” in GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Default location. Location Manager adds city, region and country pages and a location switcher.
Set it up
- Install and activate Pricing Manager and GetPaid.
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > Pricing and choose your cart. See Settings Overview for GD > Settings > Pricing.
- Turn on the gateways you want in GetPaid > Settings > Payment Gateways. For direct bank deposits, use Bank Transfer and enter your bank details.
- Create packages for each post type in Places > Settings > Packages. Each package has a price and a lifetime (how long the listing stays live), and can be recurring, include a trial, and limit images, categories and fields. See How to Add a New Pricing Package?.
- Test the whole flow with a normal user account, as described in How to Test if Your Paid Listings are Working as Expected.
Once set up, a user picks a package on the add listing form, submits the listing and pays at checkout. The listing then gets the status set in Paid Listing Status. When the lifetime runs out it expires, unless the package is recurring and the subscription renews (How do Recurring Packages Work?).
Discount codes
With GetPaid as the cart, create coupon codes in GetPaid > Discounts. Users enter the code at checkout.
