GeoDirectory has no user roles of its own and never changes a user’s role. People who register get the WordPress default role from Settings > General > New User Default Role, which is Subscriber unless you have changed it.
Listing owners don’t need the WordPress backend. They add listings with the add listing form and edit or delete them from the front end, where GeoDirectory only shows the edit and delete links to the listing’s author (and to admins). See How to allow users to add and edit their GeoDirectory listings.
Block wp-admin for chosen roles
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General.
- In Restrict wp-admin, select the roles that should never reach the backend. Subscriber is selected by default.
- Save the settings.
A logged in user with one of those roles who tries to open wp-admin is sent to your home page. Administrators are never blocked. AJAX requests still go through, so the front end forms keep working.
To hide the WordPress toolbar from these users as well, see How do I remove the WP Admin bar for non-admin users?.
What other users can see
Published listings are public, and GeoDirectory has no setting to hide one member’s listings from other members. What you can control is the author page that lists a user’s listings: in Places > Settings > General, under Author page, set Authors posts to Private. It is an advanced setting, so click Show Advanced if it isn’t visible.
