When a GeoDirectory category page loads with only the header, or shows no listings, work through these checks in order.
1. Re-save permalinks
Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes without changing anything. This rebuilds the URL rules, which is often needed after changing GeoDirectory slugs, Location Manager settings or moving the site. Do it again whenever you change the country, region or city settings in GeoDirectory > Settings > Locations.
2. Check the archive template page
Category, tag and post type pages are built from the Archive page set at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages. That page must contain the GD > Loop element ([gd_loop]), which outputs the listings, and the Archive item page sets how each listing looks. If the page was deleted or the loop removed, category pages come up empty. A post type can also have its own template pages in Places > Settings > General, so check there if only one post type is affected.
3. Look for a PHP error
A page that stops right after the header usually means a PHP fatal error. Turn on debug logging in wp-config.php and reload the category page:
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
The error is written to wp-content/debug.log. If it names another plugin or your theme, test with a default theme and with non-GeoDirectory plugins deactivated to confirm the conflict. Also check that GeoDirectory and its add-ons are up to date.
4. Check the listings themselves
Make sure the listings in that category are published. With Location Manager, the category page may only list listings in the location the visitor has selected, so clear the location and try again.
If the category URL itself gives a “page not found” error, see Why do I get a 404 Page Not Found error?. Turning on Enable 404 rescue at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Developer helps old category and listing URLs redirect to their new address.
