A GeoDirectory listing is featured when its Featured field is ticked. Blocks and badges read that value, for example the Featured badge in the default archive item template and the “Show featured only?” option in GD > Listings.
Add the Featured field
- Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields (use the matching menu for your other post types).
- Look for Featured in the list of fields on the form. If it is not there, add it from the Predefined Fields list.
- Save the field.
Featured is an admin only field by default, so visitors filling in the add listing form do not see it.
Feature a listing by hand
- Edit the listing in wp-admin.
- Tick “Is Featured?” with the other listing fields.
- Update the listing.
Feature listings through a paid package
With the Pricing Manager add-on, a package can make its listings featured. Pricing Manager treats a package as featured when the Featured field is available on that package, and listings paid for on it are saved as featured when the field’s default value is ticked.
To limit this to your featured packages, either set “Show only on these price packages” in the Featured field settings, or add Featured to “Exclude Fields” in the settings of every package that should not include it. See How to add a new pricing package for the other package settings.
Show featured listings
In GD > Listings, tick “Show featured only?” to list only featured listings, for example in a block on your home page. Featured also supports sorting, so you can offer it as a sort option under Places > Settings > Sorting.
