    For those of you also struggling with the annoyance of having to find lat and long before upload.

    a. I installed the sabai directory.
    b. I import to it first. From an address, it finds lat an long.
    c. I built a csv exporter for it, and export the listings… with lat and long found.
    d. Then I import into geodirectory.

    Its such a nuisance geodirectory, a directory that has GEO in the name… does not geocode addresses on upload.

    A ballsup nuisance of pain in the ass.

    Considering that you can use a service like this to get Bulk lat and long, it seems like a lot of work for nothing.

    We don’t calculate lat and long on import because it would make import too slow in case of massive imports.

    Thank you,

    p.s. please moderate your language on the forum.

    GeoDirectory is by far, I repeat, BY FAR the best directory plugin available to date. Prior to GeoDirectory I used Sabai, and thank heavens I found GeoDirectory (No offence to Sabai).

    Customer care here at GeoDirectory is priceless with people like Paolo and the team of GeoDirectory going out of their way to help whenever need be, which is almost never as the plugin always runs smoothly due to the fact that the quality of the plugin is in a much higher league of it´s own. I am not getting paid to say this and I mean no disrespect to anyone, I am simply stating my own personal experience regarding GeoDirectory.

    Keep up the excellent work guys and thanks for everything!

    Just so we are on the same page jan lamprecht?

    I agree with everything you’ve said.
    I am also a former Sabai user/convert.
    I am presently converting site no 10 of 15 from Sabai, so yes, i know its limitations.

    But I use Sabai’s import to get the lat longs.
    I have built a custom plugin to export the results in geodirectory import format from Sabai.
    The export arrives with lat/longs already entered in the correct fields with the correct headings.

    So here’s what i do.

    import to sabai
    export
    import to geo

    3rd party services are problematic, they time out, they garble results, they don’t like me to upload large spreedsheets with lots of fields etc

    So yes yes… I too am a geo user and fan, but to me its like i have an awesome 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, from the best puzzle make in the business… just with a piece or two missing.
