GeoDirectory works with Avada and its Fusion Builder. GeoDirectory includes compatibility code for Avada, so directory pages follow Avada’s sidebar, page template and width settings.
Where GeoDirectory pages get their Avada layout
GeoDirectory shows categories, listings and search results through template pages that you choose at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages (Archive page, Details Page, Search Page and so on). With Avada, the layout of each kind of GeoDirectory page comes from its template page:
- To change the sidebar on category pages, edit your Archive page and choose the sidebar in its Avada page options. Do the same on the Details Page for listing pages.
- To make a GeoDirectory page full width, give its template page Avada’s 100% Width or Blank page template.
- Avada’s page options are hidden when you edit individual listings, because listings take their layout from the Details Page.
Build the content of those template pages with Fusion Builder or the block editor, using GeoDirectory’s widgets and shortcodes. Using a builder with GeoDirectory explains how the template pages work.
Page speed
Avada is a large theme and a directory adds maps and listing scripts on top, so the hosting and caching set-up matters. If pages are slow, set up page caching with the exclusions in GeoDirectory and caching compatibility and switch off the Avada features you don’t use in Avada’s own performance options.
On the GeoDirectory side, Lazy Load Maps at GeoDirectory > Settings > General (click Show Advanced) can load each map only when it scrolls into view, or when the visitor clicks a button. See How to lazy load maps in GeoDirectory.
